Tepoztlan, Mexico Annual Fiesta

Every year at the end of the first week in September, Tepoztlan has its town festival. This runs over several days and includes diverse elements: processions, performance, art, and ritual. There is a sundown hike to the pyramid and a ritual there. The marketplace is cleared and a performance stage erected. One play features the mythological story of the origin  of the city. There are many parades. The arched entrance to the churchyard has its very decorative mosaic, composed entirely of beans of different shapes, colors and sizes, entirely removed and then replaced. A truly joyous affair!

Some of My Houseplants

Sadly to say, there is no land outside my rented room to grow plants. The door enters directly into the street, and other sides are drop offs. Of course there are advantages. More photos of these plants upcoming. The sequel to The Bumpy Road may be called Travels and Travails of a Gringo Gardener.
Is this a good title?

They are the sons and daughters of

"The Bumpy Road" by Don Karp

Reading The Bumpy Road promotes self-examination and encourages transformation. Everyone lives a personal “hero’s journey”. The Bumpy Road shows how culture clash is a muse for creative transformation. It tells the story of childhood followed by adolescent confusion. A boy struggles to become a man by buying into institutions that did not work for him--a marriage to a woman, whose entire self-concept was tied to “the relationship”, and as a science student in academia where success is about publish or perish: lies, back-stabbing, and the old boys' club. The 60’s culture came and personal chaos ensued. Relying on mental institutions to correct the evils of the aforementioned institutions created new problems instead. But the human spirit is resilient. The Bumpy Road details how the habit of going to the hospital for help was broken, and a new artistic identity replaced the old one. Primed for seizing cultural diversity opportunities, new struggles and successes were encountered in Mexico.

This is my "cloud atlas". It's the day before full moon and the day after solstice. The beginning of the rainy season. I certainly have my head in the clouds! Head in the clouds, feet on the ground.
